Rhodes - Full Day Cruise to the Island of Symi
The excursion includes licensed Guides and round trip transfers hotel-port-hotel with deluxe motor coaches. The cruise is with a Catamaran licensed to carry 450 passengers. The sailing time to and from Symi is 2 hours each way. Symi is the most picturesque of all the Dodecanese Islands and a must to visit. The quaint harbour and neo-classical houses built high on the mountain slopes, offers a magnificent view and a beautiful lasting impression. The 1st stop is at the port of Panormitis for a visit to the Monastery. This is the Island’s most important monastery and the second in the whole of the Dodecanese, after that of St. John on Patmos.
The church, dedicated to the Archangel Michael, has in its main church an all-gold icon of the Saint, a wealth of offerings, wall paintings and a wooden screen of first class craftsmanship. After an hour’s visit at the port of Panormitis the cruise then continues to the main port of Symi called Yalos for a visit around the port area, its surroundings and enjoy a sponge fishing demonstration. There are many taverns along the waterfront that offers delicious meals and Greek appetizers for lunch. There is ample time after lunch for browsing, shopping or swimming, before returning back to Rhodes.
For a leisure trip to Symi without a visit to the Archeological Sites, it is permitted to book an Assistant instead of a licensed Guide. However the Assistant will not be permitted to do any guiding on the Island.
