At 11h30 we sail for our last destination, Santorini where we disembark from our cruise at around
The world famous island of Santorini is the southern most island of the Cycladic group in the
Aegean Sea, and is located 63 nautical miles north of Crete.
Its surface area is 73 sq. km. and its population, distributed among thirteen villages, just exceeds thirteen thousand six hundred people, according to the census of 2001.
It is the most active volcanic centre in the Aegean Arc, though what remains today is largely a caldera. The name Santorini was given to it by the Venetians in the 13th century and is a referenceto Saint Irene. Before then it was called Kallisti, Strongili or Thera. The island was the site of one of the largest volcanic eruptions of the last several thousand years when it erupted cataclysmically about
3,500 years ago. The eruption left a large caldera surrounded by ash deposits hundreds of feet
deep, and its effects may have indirectly led to the collapse of the Minoan civilization on the island
of Crete, to the south. It has also been said that the sunsets in Santorini are the best in the world…
…From the Caldera breathtaking views of the volcano & neighbouring islands. From the east, miles
of dark sandy or pebbled beaches. Everywhere one sees small domed churches and remnants of days gone by.
This is Santorini seen through the eyes of people who know & love it ...

the summit craters of the volcano. Optional Lunch and swimming break on Therasia. Slow round-trip close to and along Santorini's spectacular inner caldera cliffs, visiting Oia Village for the famous
sunset (an unforgettable highlight!) and return late in the evening to our hotel by bus.
